About MeBorn in Michigan, raised in Ohio, I'm a "Midwest Girl" who moved to California in the early 2000's. My career has been an interesting and quirky combination of many different fields, from education to corporate to non-profit, which has given me a pretty well-rounded perspective as a teacher. I've been a Litigation Administrator, a Director of Communications, a writing tutor, have written and directed dramas, done nearly everything in theater from acting to costumes to props to stage managing, and I love just about anything creative: gardening, music, sewing, painting, singing, etc.
In Ohio, I was part of the wonderful English Department at Whitmer High School, where I had the privilege of teaching all levels of English (9-12), as well as Drama I and II, and Humanities. I was also part of the Humanities 2000 program with the University of Toledo, which developed curriculum and pioneered dual-credit courses for local high schools, so that high school students could receive both high school and U of T credit for a course offered at our high school. Now in California, I'm very excited to be part of the amazing English team at Clovis North High School for the past several years, and proud to be a Bronco. |
My Family
My husband Mark and I just celebrated our 30th wedding anniversary this August (woo hoo!), and we have two wonderful children who are in their 20's.
For 11 years we also had our "fur baby" Pepper, our labradoodle, who kept us laughing all the time and was the best cure for a tough day. Sadly, we lost Pepper last year to a severe health issue, and we're still missing her very much every day. Thankfully, our daughter's cat, Asher, provides plenty of antics and fun so the house doesn't seem quite so quiet. |
